Mercedes 220 S convertible

1968

VIN # :
Eng # :
Transmission :
Miles:
color :blue / beige
price : $ 49,000.-

The car is a "black plate California Car"....

. That means that the car was registered in California prior to June 15, 1968, when the license plate color turned dark yellow with black letters, instead of the other way around.
. At any rate, from the pictures, you will see that the last year the car was registered was 1985.
It has been in the shop or in storage ever since. I bought it from the widow of a fellow I knew who moved to Pittsburgh in 1985.
It needed some mechanical work at the time so he decided to restore it as well.
It .a RUST-FREE car, having lived in Southern California all of it's days prior to being shipped here. The car was in storage
At the time, it still needed to have its brakes done completely (lines, drums, cylinders, shoes, linings, etc...and the engine (which had been rebuilt...it came into the shop with a leaking head gasket, at which time the owner elected to have it completely rebuilt and detailed, along with the transmission, etc.
So the drive train (engine, transmission, universal joints and drive shaft, differential) has been completely refurbished mechanically, front end rebuilt, new braking system in its entirety. The previous owner had a quality reupholstery job performed in the finest leather...original color, German horse hair padding, etc....
Also, the wood has been professionally refinished (se pics). All the chrome was re-plated and the trim pieces that go on the sides of the car were either replaced with NOS items or plated as well.
The original soiled carpeting is still in the car.
The new owner will not have to buy anything to complete the job
