There are a few simple
steps to take to assure that you receive the maximum credit for your returned
core.
You will receive a "core
return tag" and each are listed on this tag.
- The crankshaft must turn a full 360
degrees through its rotation.if you can not turn the engine over full 360
degrees, core credit can not be issued.
- The Engine is complet, i.e, overhead
camshafts, rockers, rear main seal covers, etc..etc..remain attached. your core
must include it, for a full credit.
- There are no visible cracks or holes in
the engine. Engines with craks or holes are not eligible for core
credit.
- The engine casting number matches that
of the engine shipped. This can be verified by the casting numbers listed on
the reverse side of the tag.
- It will list the head, block and crank
casting numbers, as well as the location of the engine block casting
number.
- Engines returned that are different
from the one sent (example: a 280 SL to replace a 280 SE) are not eligible for
core credit.
- If your engine has been shipped in a
wooden container, ship it back in the same container, or strapped to a pallet.
If your engine is shipped in a plastic tub, it MUST be returned in the same
plastic tub to receive core credit.
- All fluids (coolant and oil) have been
drained from the engine. Engines returned with oil or coolant remaining are not
eligible for a full core credit.
If you follow these simple
steps, you will be able to maximize the core credit.
